How did you and your husband meet? We met at the University of Denver in Colorado. We had a mutual best friend and have now been together for 9 years.
How did he propose? He was in Sydney for work and I met him for a long weekend in Byron Bay. He had arranged a picnic on the beach and a photographer. It was absolutely perfect!
What was your vision for your wedding day? The main thing we wanted was for it to be very fun and relaxed, for not only us but the guests also. Our vision for how it looked was very clean white flowers with plenty of greenery.
Where did you look for your wedding inspiration? Mainly on Instagram and Pinterest
What drew you to your gown from Helen Rodrigues Bridal? I was interested in a particular Elie Saab dress and was desperate to try it on. Elie Saab isn’t sold in New Zealand so I had to fly to Sydney.
What was your wedding planning journey like for you? How far out did you start planning? It was fairly quick. We got engaged in September, chose our venue that same month and bought the wedding dress the next month, and were married a few months later! We were incredibly lucky in many ways, Helen arranged for Elie Saab to do the dress in time and our date was available. Everything else just fell into place.
What was the biggest decision you had to make? We struggled alot with the invitations, as they took quite long to design, print and send.
What was the highlight of your wedding day for you? It was so much fun I loved every bit of it. Getting ready with my closest friends and then walking down the aisle to John. I loved the drama of wearing such a fun big dress and seeing everyone’s reactions. The dinner was delicious and dancing afterwards was the best.
Is there anything you would do differently? No not at all! I cannot imagine it any differently!
Is there any advice you would give other #HRBride’s? Have fun while choosing your dress! My mother and I went around the corner for a glass of champagne before purchasing and it was wonderful! Helen was so lovely and helpful after we explained how quickly we wanted a dress.
